Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Have a look at the heart-achingly desirable new Beatles-inspired winter 2011 collection from the genius that is Chloe Townsend's Missibaba.

"The iconic Beatles and their flamboyant military-esque Sgt. Pepper suits inspired Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Camel, pale grey, royal bursts of scarlet, camomile yellow, 'piknik doek' blue and gold form a vibrant colour palette that takes you right back to the swinging sixties. Detailing includes a military loop, a kaleidoscope inspired cut out and a neutral base with vibrant contrasting accents" with hints of printed oversized gingham.

Missibaba has also opened a studio shop which is just heavenly. Set amongst the working bustle & multi-coloured leather smorgasbord that is the Missibaba studio lies a quiet browsing & buying nook. To me, more like a shrine to all that is Missibaba. I could do a morning meditation in there. Chloe is also joined by her friend Meg Summs who has the equally delicious clothing label Fabric. "Summs works with delicate fabrics to create tailored shirts, haboutai silk kaftans, silk and cotton nouveau print 'hitch up' dresses, mesh under slips and stitched panelled jumpsuits".

Missibaba & 'Cowboy's Little Girl'

Started 5 years ago by the über-talented, London College of Design-trained Chloe Townsend, this luxury designer accessory label is "a playground for all things leather" and on the top of most South African women's wishlists - mine for sure. Based in the heart of Woodstock, the Missibaba team, of Chloe & her local craftswomen, create 100% proudly South African little pieces of magic!

Missibaba's new collection for Spring/Summer 2010 "Cowboy's Little Girl" does not disappoint. Inspired by "the iconic elements of the Wild West...the collection draws upon imagery of cowboys, Aztec Indians and prairie girls reminiscent of an old Hollywood Western". With product names like the 'Saddle', 'Sonora' and 'Buckaroo' in colours of tan, badger brown, big sky blue and rising sun red, prepare to enter a world of "smoky saloons and blowing tumbleweeds".

Visit the Missibaba website for all products, local & international stockists. And a Missibaba Etsy shop coming soon!
