Google

Robert Wong from the Google Creative Lab (they definitely don't need a link!) was another awesome personality who showed us two videos from Google - the first being a play-around by a Google intern which ended up airing during the Superbowl as a sharing of cool stuff by Google (not an ad!) and the second being a video made by Google employees reaching out to the gay population during a time of many gay related suicides. Both touchingly just about life.

Black Swan

So for those of you who haven't seen this very dark, twisty & brilliant film yet, hop along. I love this Black Swan digital print from Guilty Cubicle.

Kung Fu Cinema : 'House of Flying Daggers' 2004

From the same director of 'Hero', Yimou Zhang brings us another exquisite romantic Kung Fu adventure starring Ziyi Zhang, Takeshi Kaneshiro & Andy Lau. The Tang Dynasty, a rebel group called 'The House of Flying Daggers', a blind & beautiful revolutionary, a lone warrior, elaborate plans, trickery, star-crossed lovers, Kung Fu...what more does one need in a Kung Fu movie?!

Kung Fu Cinema: 'Kung Fu Panda' 2008

If I'm completely honest (and I'm seriously throwing my fighter street cred down the drain here), Kung Fu Panda is the reason I started Kung Fu! Ha - there, I admitted it. Nominated & having won a number of awards, directed by Mark Osborne & John Stevenson with voice-overs by Jackie Chan, Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman and Lucy Liu, 'Kung Fu Panda' is wonderful for both adults and kids alike.

"In the Valley of Peace, Po the Panda finds himself chosen as the Dragon Warrior despite the fact that he is obese and a complete novice at martial arts." Aw - I so ♥ this movie!

"Prepare for awesomeness"!

Kung Fu Cinema : 'Hero' 2002

Probably the most visually beautiful movie I've ever seen. Presented by Quentin Tarantino, directed by Yimou Zhang, starring the one and only Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Donnie Yen and Ziyi Zhang. The story of how one man defeats (in the most beautiful, colourful, aesthetically pleasing fight scenes!) three assassins; Broken Sword, Flying Snow & Sky, who are trying to murder the most powerful warlord in pre-unified China.

Kung Fu Cinema : 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' 2000

Another one of my top watch again & again Kung Fu movies. Directed by Ang Lee and starring Kung Fu movie favourites, Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh & Ziyi Zhang this is a beautiful story about love, trust and growing up played out when "two warriors in pursuit of a stolen sword and notorious fugitive are led to an impetuous, physically-skilled, teenage nobleman's daughter, who is at a crossroads in her life". Winner of four Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction and Best Original Score, never mind the fly-through-the-air fight scenes, this film is a must for even non-Kung Fu fans (do you actually exist?!).
