"I was born on the last day of the year during the last century but only my age makes me a pensioner. I was born in Cerveny Kostelec".
Antonín Hepnar has an interesting history. Recognised as a Master of Handicraft, you can find his name in the encyclopaedia of Czech and Slovakian artists, you can find a piece of his work in the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and after working in his father's workshop he "took a fancy to rotating shapes...everything in universe rotates". Puppets, jewellery, toys, bowls, candle sticks, anything wooden - Hepnar is a real-life Gepetto.
Antonín Hepnar has collaborated with the creative group Okolo to exhibit "Retrospective of the Light" at Designblok 2010. "Design of lights in all versions – table, floor, wall, and suspension – has always represented the creative mainstay of Antonín Hepnar’s work. This fan of wood and clearly turned shapes has been active in the field of applied arts since the second half of the 1950."
